LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- It's week two, day three, in the trial of former Assistant District Attorney Gary Haynes, who is facing federal charges of bribery and conspiracy.
The focus in the courtroom remained on the witness stand as one of the alleged participants in the scheme discussed his role in the purported kickbacks.
Dusty Guidry, a contract worker for the district attorney's Pre-Trial Diversion Program, described how everyone involved was to receive a percentage of one-third of the money paid into the program. Haynes' attorney reminded the court that Guidry had pleaded guilty in exchange for a more lenient sentence. Guidry testified about a conversation in which Haynes was praised for his good work.
