FRANKFORT, Ky. —
If you've been to a regional KYTC driver's licensing office lately, you're no stranger to long wait times.
Some leaders say it's been brought on by the switch to the regional office model, but Sen. Jimmy Higdon, the Senate Transportation Committee Chair, says it's also been brought on by a perfect storm of issues.
"We created a logjam with the vision testing coming online January the 1st, then we had the 15-year-olds, it went into effect immediately, where the 15-year-olds could get a permit," said Higdon. "And then we had the real I.D. deadline."
WLKY has been following how KYTC and legislators have been working to address the issue.
At a committee hearing on Wednesday, KYTC representatives say they're making progress.
