Over nearly the past two decades, multiple studies have shown a connection between social media and mental health problems in kids and teens.

On Tuesday, New York state Attorney General Letitia James released a guideline for social media companies to follow in accordance with the “SAFE for KIDS” Act, which was signed into law last year.

It looks to stop kids from becoming addicted to the algorithmic feeds designed to grab and sustain their attention.
