COLFAX, Wash. – The State Route 26 bridge in Colfax will see lane restrictions starting Friday, Sept. 19, after its concrete barrier was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), crews will install new barriers to protect the damaged section.
This work, declared an emergency by WSDOT, will require temporary closure of the SR 26 bridge. Traffic will be rerouted to US 195, with flaggers managing alternating traffic near the Chevron gas station.
The work is expected to be completed by 4 p.m. Once finished, the bridge will reopen with narrowed lanes. The previous total width of 26 feet will be reduced to 22 feet, with each lane being 11 feet wide until the bridge is replaced.
