FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – What started as a backyard fundraiser in Fresno has turned into a viral dining experience, drawing crowds from across the valley and beyond.

At Sabor Oaxaqueño, every meal comes with a taste of Oaxaca and a family’s story.

Teresa Norma Cruz Martinez is the cook behind the grill, while her daughter, Iellene Hernandez, does a little bit of everything else.

“I’m the server. I’m the cashier. I’m the everything,” Iellene said.

The setup is simple: a backyard kitchen modeled after the casetas Teresa grew up with in Ayoquezco de Aldama, Oaxaca, Mexico. But the flavors and the hospitality are what keep people coming back.
