AN EXETER man is stepping up his campaign to crack down on the minty menace who’s been tossing York Peppermint Pattie wrappers along Route 85 after his roadside signs designed to discourage the dumper disappeared.

Mark W. Damsell has built and installed two new heavy metal signs in locations just off the roadway that will be visible to drivers — and especially the litterbug that he claims has been improperly discarding the foil pattie wrappers for years. (One sign is strapped to a tree, while the other is on the ground near a tree.)

Damsell, who has been picking up trash along a stretch of Route 85 from Swasey Parkway to the Newfields town line for 29 years through New Hampshire’s Sponsor-A-Highway program, became frustrated with the wrappers and several months ago made two signs that he
