HARRISBURG — Jamal Oxford stood on the courthouse steps on Wednesday and told those struggling with addiction that recovery does happen and no one has to face it alone.

Oxford, a client advocate with the Saline County Public Defender’s Office, organized the event to mark National Recovery Month. His own story — once caught in addiction, now more than 13 years sober — set the tone for the ceremony.
