Mount Clemens Mayor Laura Kropp used the 2025 State of the City address on Wednesday to announce a reconfiguration project for Main Street scheduled for two years from now.

Kropp, who is up for election for a second four-year term this year, said the Main Street project is aimed at providing a safer, more aesthetically-pleasing road through the heart of Mount Clemens, the county seat for Macomb.

“We are going to reconfigure all of North and South Main Street,” she said following the address at the Emerald Theatre.

“We are going to put in a boulevard with green space down the middle, eliminate a left-turn lane, enhanced crosswalks, and add new sidewalks and a bike lane that will connect Shadyside Park to the downtown area.”
