TOWN AND COUNTRY — Sophia Bell has seen this move before.

And the junior shortstop for the Westminster softball team hopes to enjoy a repeat effort.

The Wildcats used some timely hitting and snazzy defense to knock off Borgia 6-2 on Wednesday in a battle of state tournament hopefuls.

Westminster caught fire at this exact time last season on the way to a third-place finish in Class 4.

"I really think we're starting to put this together, just like last year," Bell said.

Added junior pitcher Jaymison Lenk, "This might be the start of something good."

Westminster (9-6) began the season by splitting its first eight games before winning five of its last seven.

The triumph over Borgia (9-7), which finished second in Class 3 in 2023, is the Wildcats' most impressive victory to date.
