TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - During cardiac arrest, the use of CPR can be the difference between life and death.
Officials with the Northwest Fire District said this year they have seen it save more lives than ever before.
“The longer it takes for them to get CPR, start chest compressions, it’s going to decrease their chance of survival significantly,” said Northwest Fire Division Chief Dave Braswell. “We’ve seen a lot of bystander CPR this year, with our code saves, whether it’s a family member, somebody in the general public.”
A code save is when someone is in cardiac arrest and a resuscitation process is started, and that person survives, not just making it to the hospital, but making a full recovery and being able to walk out of the hospital doors.
