COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 9-month-old boy was critically injured in a "suspicious" incident Wednesday night in the Italian Village neighborhood, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Sgt. James Fuqua told 10TV that first responders with the Columbus Division of Fire were called shortly after 5 p.m. to a home in the 900 block of North Fourth Street on a report of an unresponsive infant.

The infant was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in "extremely" critical condition, Fuqua said. While at the hospital, doctors told police the infant's injuries were not consistent with an accident.

Officers then went to the home and found several adults along with an uninjured toddler, according to Fuqua.

Fuqua said police suspect foul play in the infant's injuries.
