Two local fire departments are assisting BC Wildfire Service in responding to a fire in a forested area of Roger Creek.

Port Alberni Fire Department shared it was on scene of the fire, along with Cherry Creek Fire Department.

“No structures are threatened at this time,” Port Alberni Fire said on Facebook. “Smoke may be visible in the area.”

BC Wildfire Service says the wildfire is already “being held,” meaning it is not expected to spread given the current conditions and resources. BCWS lists the fire as 0.009 hectares in size, and the cause is under investigation.
