BOSTON – The runners in scoring position woes continued on for the Red Sox for another nine innings on Wednesday.

But this game went to extras, giving pinch-hitter Nick Sogard the chance to get a walk-off fielder’s choice RBI grounder in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Red Sox pulled off an important 5-4 win over the Athletics.

Sogard hit a sharp grounder to second baseman Zack Gelof, who fired to the plate, but speedy automatic runner Nate Eaton slid in safely for the win.

After Nathaniel Lowe was walked intentionally, Carlos Narváez dropped down a sacrifice bunt to set up runners at second and third with one out.

Down 4-2 after the A’s scored three in the top of the fifth, the Red Sox chipped away.
