MINNEAPOLIS — A Minnesota woman is being called a "modern-day snake oil salesman" as she pleads guilty to federal charges.
Tammy Wadsworth pled guilty to possessing altered, forged, or counterfeit medical products on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Wadsworth founded the company Pain, Injury and Brain Centers of America, which used an AI treatment to restore degenerative cells to healthy, fully functioning cells. She recruited franchise owners to open clinics around the country using the false technology.
The treatment wasn't just unsuccessful, prosecutors say. It also caused a number of injuries to the franchise owners and patients.
