HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Huntington City Council members are working toward establishing new rules for determining council members’ residency requirements.

The Rules and Ethics Committee proposed a motion that all City Council members must sign under oath that they live where they say they live.

Council members said the new policy proposal comes after a sitting council member’s residency was called into question.

Councilmember Sarah Walling said such rules help ensure fairness.
