The MAGA regime has taken their voter-suppression movement into overdrive, trying to remake elections in their favor in ways that render them mere performances of democracy. But though they’ve made it harder for many to vote, they haven’t succeeded yet.

Despite an array of tactics to eliminate competition to the regime, in America, elections are still run locally. Midterm elections will happen in 2026, though under authoritarian conditions. Authoritarians don’t cancel elections; they corrupt them.
