WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Captain Nemo's, a family-run food stand at The Big E, has been serving fairgoers for nearly 50 years, offering a taste of tradition and innovation.
Founded in 1976 by Patricia Distefano's late husband, Captain Nemo's has grown from a small stand at the back of the fair to a prominent location near the state houses. This year, the stand introduced a new menu item, pulled pork and macaroni and cheese sliders, inspired by Distefano's granddaughters.
"This was my husband's dream, because years ago, when he was a teenager, he used to work for people," said Patricia Distefano, President & Owner of Captain Nemo's.
The business remains a family affair, with many of the staff being relatives, including Patricia's brother-in-law, cousins, and their children. In ad
