VERMILLION, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -In just his 2nd collegiate start, L.J. Phillips of USD made sure it wasn’t his last.
With Charles Pierre JR out for the year, Phillips stepped up by carrying the football 35 times for 301 yards and a pair of scores in the Coyotes 24-17 Overtime win over Northern Colorado.
He earned Missouri Valley Offensive Player of the Week, but was also named the FCS National Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
It’s the most yards by a USD back in the FCS era...and it was even more impressive to watch for the Head Coach later on tape.
