CORALVILLE — Iowa State defeated Iowa 3-2 (25-23, 25-13, 21-25, 21-25, 15-12) in a thrilling, five-set CyHawk volleyball matchup on Wednesday night.
The win marks the fourth consecutive win over the Hawkeyes (7-3, 0-0 Big Ten) for the Cyclones (8-1, 0-0 Big 12).
“It’s exciting,” Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch said. “We were saying that every time you a close five-setter you could put that away. You put that in your pocket. You remember that you came through and you were clutch. That helps build confidence. Hopefully, this five-setter builds confidence, but, at the same time, it’s another match. We’ve got two more this weekend, so we’ll enjoy it for a couple hours tonight and then get back to work.”
The Cyclones took control early in the first set, jumping out to a 17-10 lea
