RITZVILLE, Wash. – East Adams Rural Healthcare in Ritzville is at the center of a significant fraud case involving more than $32,000.
The case originated in 2023. According to a report from the Washington State Auditor's Office released this month, a former accounting clerk altered checks and made unauthorized credit card purchases.
The former clerk pled guilty in April 2024 and received a 60-day jail sentence.
The healthcare district is actively working to recover the lost funds. Officials have stated that they have improved internal controls to include additional layers of review.
