A woman did a DNA test on her adopted dog just for fun—only to get a life-changing result.
Lily Draheim, 37, who posts to Reddit under the username u/30to40cats, adopted American pit bull terrier, Cricket, from a shelter, and recently did a DNA tes t with Embark to double-check her breed.
And while her breed was exactly what they expected, Draheim, from Cleveland, Ohio, got one very interesting result—Cricket had a brother, named Ethan.
"We decided to do the DNA test both to discover potential relatives and find out Cricket's breed—though it was clear she was at least part-pittie [pit bull]," Draheim told Newsweek .
"Getting a full sibling match for Cricket was a delightful surprise! Finding out they'd been adopted from the shelter made the connection extra special."
