BRISTOL, Tenn. — The Bristol Tennessee Board of Education voted unanimously this week to accept the transfer of the Melrose Street property from the city to the school system.

The decision followed weeks of discussion and a one-month delay that allowed board members to gather additional information about the recreation building property, located at 511–515 Melrose Street.

Vice Chairman Jim Butcher said the extra time helped answer key questions about the building and its potential role in the district’s long-range planning.

Butcher said he was concerned about water issues, health issues such as mold, parking and how the property fit into the system's long-range plans.
