A father battling terminal cancer who had two-thirds of his penis surgically removed has surpassed medics' grim 12-month survival forecast following "radical" treatment.

Retired Patrick Howard, 65, from Liverpool, Merseyside, who shares his home with 59 year old spouse Laura, initially received a prostate cancer diagnosis in October 2018 and underwent surgery to have his prostate gland removed.

After experiencing irritation and inflammation on his penis in April 2020, a medical expert subsequently confirmed in October that he had developed an "aggressive" variant of penile cancer, triggered by human papillomavirus (HPV), with his condition being terminal.
