As Democratic former Rep. Tim Ryan mulls whether to enter the Ohio governor's race, Republican biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is snatching up early union endorsements, including one that previously backed the pro-labor congressman.
But some of those unions backing Ramaswamy are supporting Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Sherrod Brown at the same time.
The Ohio State Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters and the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters both split their support between Ramaswamy and Brown , who is challenging GOP Sen. Jon Husted in 2026.
The endorsements are coming early in the race, about nine months before the May primary.
