CHARDON, Ohio - A customer who bought an Ohio Lottery scratch-off ticket at a Geauga County store has won a $50,000 prize.
The winner, who was not identified by the Ohio Lottery, purchased a Billion scratch-off ticket at the Walmart Super Center in Chardon. The ticket was one of the game's third-tier winners.
After federal and state tax withholdings, the winner will receive about $36,000. He beat odds of 1 in 99,692 to win the prize.
The winner told the Ohio Lottery he had previously won smaller prizes on the game. He said he intends to use the winnings to pay bills.
As of Sept. 17, the Ohio Lottery has 115 prizes of $50,000 remaining in the Billion game. Other prizes, including a top prize of $1 million a year for life, are also available.
