A search is underway for a pilot in New South Wales after a light plane crashed in a national park.
Emergency services were called to Budawang National Park, north-west of Batemans Bay, at about 4.30pm on Thursday after reports of an Emergency Location Transmitter activation.
The small recreational aircraft had left Bankstown in south-west Sydney earlier that day with one person onboard, and the plane had been returning to an airport, a NSW Police statement said.
The crash site was located from the air amid a major search, involving Australian Maritime Safety Authority, NSW Toll Ambulance Helicopter, Fire and Rescue NSW, and NSW Ambulance.
Frist responders are attempting to access the crash site on foot.
