COALTON, Ky. — The Healing Appalachia music festival is expected to bring more than 20,000 people to the Boyd County Fairgrounds on Friday and Saturday.

The sold-out music festival headlined by Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton is hosted by the nonprofit Hope in the Hills and is an event focused on combating the opioid crisis.

This is the sixth year for the event, which started in 2018 and took a two-year break during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was previously held at the West Virginia State Fairgrounds; this is its first year in Coalton.

The two headliners are both originally from eastern Kentucky. More than 1,000 volunteers — all in addiction recovery — are helping at the event.
