Iwrote to you a year and a half ago about artificial intelligence in the newsroom.

Correction: I wrote about the concept of AI in the newsroom. AI was dominating headlines across global tech, business and culture, but MLive at that point only was exploring options for the use of AI tools in journalism.

A lot has changed in 18 months. MLive has many AI-based tools that streamline routine assembly tasks, and our journalists employ them every day.

AI cleans up interview transcripts and organizes them thematically. AI aggregates vast amounts of research and data, quickly and with sourcing citations. AI reviews drafts for grammar, clarity and context. AI helps suggest headlines that will be effective for print, web or social media.
