COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A nine-month-old boy is in critical condition and police arrested the child's mother, who admitted to detectives she caused the injuries.

Columbus Fire medics were called to the 900 block of North 4th Street in Italian Village just after 5 p.m. Wednesday on reports of an unresponsive infant.

Columbus police said they were alerted by Nationwide Children's Hospital around 6:30 p.m. that the child had sustained injuries believed to be caused by foul play. The boy is in critical condition with traumatic injuries with court documents saying he is on life support.

Another toddler was present at the home when police arrived, but they were unharmed.
