A Gretna man was sentenced after admitting his role in a drunk driving crash on the West Bank that claimed the life of his longtime friend and injured four others, according to Jefferson Parish court records.

Felipe Reyes Ventura, 44, pleaded guilty Sept. 11 to vehicular homicide, four counts of vehicular negligent injuring and operating a vehicle without a license.

Reyes had been charged will killing his passenger, 53-year-old Jose Bueso Siguense, of Gretna, a man relatives said Reyes considered to be a brother, according to court records.

The crash occurred on the evening of Feb. 1, 2025, on the elevated West Bank Expressway in Harvey. State Police investigators say Reyes was driving westbound.
