Thurston County deputies have been dispatched to reports of a possible helicopter crash in the Summit Lake area in Thurston County.

Authorities have located what is believed to be the scene, west of Olympia and about 40 miles from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement early Thursday morning.

The agency said it was told the military lost contact with the helicopter in the area and was working closely with JBLM to deploy additional resources.

No additional details were immediately available, including how many people were aboard the helicopter or when contact was lost.
