After forming Wednesday over the central tropical Atlantic Ocean, Tropical Storm Gabrielle struggled to get structured in the face of wind shear and dry air, forecasters with the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.

The seventh named storm of the 2025 hurricane season was located about 845 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands as of 7 a.m. Thursday, forecasters said. Gabrielle was producing winds up to 50 mph and moving west-northwest at 15 mph.

While the storm currently faces hostile environmental conditions, Thursday morning projections show Gabrielle becoming a hurricane by Monday morning if it can make it to more favorable weather conditions over the weekend.
