SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Summit Carbon Solutions, which is working to build a carbon-capture pipeline through the Midwest, including Iowa, has filed a petition with the Iowa Utilities Commission to amend its current pipeline permit.

Summit Carbon Solution, which is planning a $5.5 billion, 2,500-mile project through Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota, plans to collect carbon dioxide from ethanol plants and sequester it underground in North Dakota.

The Iowa Utilities Commission approved Summit’s initial permit in August 2024 . Now, Summit Carbon Solutions is requesting changes to the initial proposed and approved route and pipe.
