PORT CLINTON, Ohio — The Liberty of Aviation Museum is hosting living history flights this weekend on the 'City of Wichita' and 'City of Port Clinton' 1928 Ford Tri-Motor plane.

The aircraft is renowned for its pivotal role in air travel and for making history as one of the tri-motors that carried Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart on the first-ever air-rail transcontinental flight in 1929.

The Ford Tri-Motor was also used to help establish routes across the United States, including Island Airlines right here in Northwest Ohio. Island Airlines operated until the 1980s, servicing the Lake Erie Islands.

The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20 and 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
