Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) and other district leaders will testify before the House Oversight Committee Thursday morning on crime and general oversight of the nation's capital.

The hearing comes more than a month after President Trump deployed National Guard troops and federal law enforcement to D.C. to patrol the streets and crack down on crime.

"All Americans should feel safe in their capital city, but radical left-wing policies pushed by the D.C. Council have created an environment for truancy and violent crime to flourish," Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said last week in a press release announcing the event.
