A British woman has been arrested in Benidorm after allegedly strangling her friend to death with a vacuum cleaner lead during a dispute. The incident occurred in an apartment located in the popular 'Little England' area, known for its appeal to British expats and tourists.

Emergency services were called around midnight by a friend of the two women, both in their 60s. Upon arrival, police found the victim, aged 66, already deceased, with the vacuum cleaner cable still around her neck. The suspect, a 64-year-old woman, reportedly confessed to the crime after being taken into custody.

An initial post-mortem examination confirmed that the cause of death was strangulation. The relationship between the two women remains unclear, as does the nationality of the third woman who called for help. The arrested woman was first taken to a local health centre for a medical examination before being transported to a police station.

A spokesperson for the National Police stated, "A woman aged 64 has been arrested on suspicion of killing another 66-year-old woman, both from the UK. The investigation is ongoing and at the moment we can’t give out any more information."

Forensic experts have taken the vacuum cleaner lead for DNA testing, and detectives are gathering statements from witnesses. The British woman’s body was removed from the scene around 3am. A court is overseeing the ongoing investigation as authorities await a full police report and the results of a comprehensive post-mortem.
