U.S. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a new U.K.-U.S. technology agreement in Buckinghamshire, England on Thursday as part of Trump's state visit.
Speaking at the signing alongside Starmer and a handful of tech CEOs, Trump described the deal as "a historic agreement on science and technology partnerships."
The Trans-Atlantic tech partnership signing capped a flurry of announcements on UK investments during Trump’s visit, which together amounted to a high-profile show of support for the country’s tech industry.
Among the local winners was Nscale, a little-known London-based data center startup that was at the center of several of the announcements.
Chipmaker Nvidia said it’s investing 500 milllion pounds ($680 million) in the company and, ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, is working with Nscale to develop the U.K. branch of Stargate, the Trump-backed AI infrastructure project.
