It looks like the Giants could get elite left tackle Andrew Thomas back this week.

Which would inarguably be a very good thing for this 0-2 team. But how much of a major difference would Thomas’ return make?

He has been sidelined since Oct. 13 last season, when he suffered a foot injury that required surgery. He practiced as a limited participant Wednesday — a positive sign for his chances of playing Sunday night against the 0-2 Chiefs, in the Giants’ must-win home opener.

“Encouraged with where he’s at,” Giants coach Brian Daboll said before Wednesday’s practice.

Thomas’ return would mean the Giants not having to even consider starting James Hudson, who was a disaster at left tackle last week in Dallas and got benched for fifth-round rookie Marcus Mbow.
