In a rare show of bipartisanship over LGBTQ+ issues, Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Republican U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska have introduced a bill that would enshrine into law the 988 crisis line for LGBTQ+ youth.

The move comes after the Trump administration announced in June it would be shuttering the specialized line for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults . By mid-July, LGBTQ+ youths in crisis could no longer press 3 to speak to a culturally specific counselor.
