The Washington Blade this week welcomed Shreya Jyotishi as its fall intern.

Shreya is a senior at American University in D.C., where she is studying journalism and CLEG (communication, legal institutions, economics, and government.) She is the editor-in-chief of the Aviary, an AU campus publication for women and nonbinary people. Shreya is also the editor-in-chief of Food-Fueled, an undergraduate research journal that focuses on food science.

Shreya grew up in New Jersey.

“Washington has such a vibrant LGBTQ culture and I’m honored to report on it this fall,” said Shreya. “Covering LGBTQ policy, queer joy, and anything in between is essential work. I’m grateful to contribute to the Washington Blade’s important role in our city.”

Shreya’s internship will end on Dec. 12.
