PATRICK Mahomes has spoken out as Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy nears his return.
The 22-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder during the Chiefs ' Week 1 27-21 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers .
Worthy had collided with teammate Travis Kelce , 35, and was ruled out of the game.
Chiefs' medics rushed to the field to assist the receiver as he fell to the floor.
He subsequently missed the Chiefs' 20-17 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
The second-year receiver has since returned to practice with his teammates.
Quarterback Mahomes has been optimistic about the receiver's chances of an early return.
"Having him out there is just a threat in general," Mahomes said.
"Having him on the practice field was very encouraging last week."
