The S.S. Badger carferry sustained damage to a stern sea gate after the ship struck its out-of-service sister ship the S.S. Spartan in Ludington Harbor on Wednesday Sept. 17.

The incident occurred while the Badger was docking at about 6:50 p.m., the company said in a release.

"We are grateful that no one was harmed in this incident," said Thom Hawley, Lake Michigan Carferry. "The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority. We are working with the relevant authorities to investigate the cause of this collision and to implement any necessary preventative measures."

No injuries occurred to passengers aboard the Badger, according to a Facebook post from Lake Michigan Carferry, the company that owns the ship.

No one was aboard the S.S. Spartan.
