On Thursday September 11, 2025, Joan Young Grounds 84, quietly left this Earth and into our Heavenly Father’s arms.

Joan was born on December 18, 1940, to her parents Tolbert Fannin Young III and Jo Iris (Atkinson)Young, in Teague, Texas at the old hospital.

She grew up in the Young Community where she attended Fairfield Schools, graduating in 1959. There she gained many accomplishments including Homecoming Queen, Class Favorites, Rodeo Queen among others.

On October 30, 1964, she married Elkhart native Osce Hillary Grounds. They resided in Fairfield and raised their two sons.

She retired in 1998 from SESCO which became Oncor. After retiring she began sitting and caring for the elderly. She did this until she was no longer able.
