Why Tigers' Dillon Dingler is shouldering such a heavy workload down the stretch

Detroit – Dillon Dingler is built for this, of course. And he’s certainly not complaining about it.

But manager AJ Hinch has been leaning hard on him down the stretch. Dingler started behind the plate Thursday for the fifth straight game and the eighth in the last nine.

“A couple of things are in play with him,” Hinch said before the game Thursday. “It’s hard to take him out of the lineup in general, for one. We know where we are in the schedule.”
