President Donald Trump suggested last week that he might send National Guard troops into St. Louis. If so, it would be in response to a request from Union Pacific Railroad’s Jim Vena, according to the president.
“I said to him, where else should we go? Where would you say? He said, ‘Sir, please do me a favor. St. Louis has been so badly hit very hard. Very, very hard,'” Trump said.
“I have not heard any talk of them coming to Saint Louis at this time,” St. Louis Police Chief Robert Tracy told KMOX Radio about the National Guard. “Sometimes when things like that happen, they’re not the decision of the chief of police. So if that point ever comes, I’ll probably have more details on what the plan would be.”
