TOMPKINS TWP., MI — A small bouquet of flowers was resting at the end of the driveway Thursday morning outside a home where two people died in a fire a day prior.

A man and a woman, believed to be the homeowners, were found dead Wednesday , Sept. 17, inside the home in the 6800 block of Maple Lane Road in rural Tompkins Township, according to the Michigan State Police.

“We saw all the fire trucks out here then later them bring out two bodies,” said neighbor Dale Pidd. “They were nice neighbors, and now they’re not there anymore.”

Authorities have not released the names of the 46-year-old man and 44-year-old woman.
