NORTH CODORUS, Pa. (AP) — A law enforcement official says the man who fatally shot three Pennsylvania officers and injured two before he was killed by police has been identified as 24-year-old Matthew James Ruth.
The official spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation.
The officers were killed Wednesday afternoon while following up on a domestic-related investigation that began on Tuesday.
Ruth, of Hanover, was charged on Wednesday with stalking, loitering/prowling at nighttime and criminal trespassing.
Police were attempting to serve the arrest warrant for those charges when Ruth opened fire on officers on the 1800 block of Haar Road in North Codorus Township.
Three officers were killed and two were injured. Officers
