A man died and a woman was injured late Tuesday after an SUV struck a cement wall in San Jose, police said.

Officers responded about 11:05 p.m. to the 100 block of Madrone Avenue, west of Dougherty Avenue. A westbound 1998 black Jeep Cherokee hit a wall at a creek crossing, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The female driver was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries that were later determined to be non-life-threatening, officers noted.

Meanwhile, the male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash marks San Jose’s 25th fatal collision and traffic death of 2025.
