A $10,000 reward was offered Thursday in the death of a man who was shot when he and his son checked on a car security alarm outside his South Los Angeles home.
Juan Luis Marquez, 41, was shot and killed Oct. 16 by one of four people, described by authorities as juveniles, in the alley behind his family's home in the 8000 block of South Hooper Avenue.

"He was an extremely hard working man who provided for his family and was always there for them," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Steve DeJong said of the married father of four children. "His murder has devastated his family."
The county's board of supervisors is offering the reward for information in the killing.
