Syracuse, N.Y. ― The call came into Pete Corasaniti about two or three weeks ago.
Adam Sandler, the comedian and actor, was coming through Syracuse on his “You’re My Best Friend’’ stand-up tour. He and some of his traveling crew were looking for a place to play some pickup basketball.
Corasaniti, a Syracuse assistant and the program’s director of basketball operations, offered up the Carmelo K. Anthony Center.
So on Wednesday around 2 p.m., Sandler and a few of his buddies, including comedian Kevin James, walked into the Melo Center ready to play some hoops.
“It was a cool moment to have someone of that stature in your gym,’’ Corasaniti said.
Sandler’s love of basketball is well-known. He’s an avid pickup player who sometimes shows up at courts unannounced.
